IDEX HR Director in Denver, Colorado

Scope of Role:

The Director of Human Resources is the business group’s functional leader charged with developing, organizing and executing all Human Resources strategies for the organization. This includes responsibility for the entire employment process, recruitment, employee and labor relations, organizational development, employee compensation, safety, compliance, and employee retention and development.

Duties and Responsibility:

Handle and execute day to day and long-term Human Resource related activities and needs, specifically for the teams located in Denver, Colorado and the United Kingdom. These will include but not be limited to the following:

Leadership of HR Team and Function:

  • Work with HR team to develop skills and capabilities involving, delegating to and/or mentoring them in the appropriate areas outlined below.

Strategic Alignment and Execution

  • Drive IDEX HR priorities through operating model and engagement activities.

  • Represents function and provides appropriate inputs in business group’s key annual strategic processes: Annual Operating Plan, Strategic Plan and Annual HR Talent Review.

  • Strategic partner to the President and SLT responsible for ensuring functional alignment with the business’ go to market strategies and strategic initiatives.

Feedback and Coaching for Leadership Team & President

  • Push team development process to build AA Senior Leadership Team and critical teams.

  • Identify specific development areas and provide feedback to President and peers.

  • Offer timely feedback as opportunities arise to improve individual and team performance.

Organizational Talent Development

  • Revitalize career development plans, based on performance reviews, 360 reviews, Talent/HR Review, etc.

  • Facilitate and lead training initiatives; annual Talent/HR Review, leadership development, employee skills training and development.

  • Coordinate and run Workday performance management process.

  • Development of VOE (Voice of Employee) metrics and process improvement projects.

  • Responsible for the development and capabilities of the HR Staff.

Employee Engagement

  • Be a catalyst in building an inclusive culture; driving high retention and low voluntary turnover.

  • Drive a comprehensive and effective communications plan.

  • With leadership team, execute action plans to build an environment of premier employee engagement.

Compliance and HR Administration

  • Act as the group’s Ethics Officer to coordinate and handle compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate policy requirements.

  • Integrate and communicate HR Scorecard to management team, highlighting HR metrics and their impact.

  • Shape, implement and maintain processes that ensure regulatory and organizational policy compliance.

Talent Acquisition

  • Deliver a recruitment plan that aligns with strategic objectives, incorporates traditional and non-traditional recruitment sources and ensures the casting of a “wide net” to attract and introduce qualified diverse candidates to the organization.

  • Develop and execute a strategic recruitment plan designed to institutionalize top-grading and the continuous improvement of the business’ talent pool.

  • Direct and execute the recruitment process; advertising, job descriptions, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and reference checks.

  • Formulate, execute and maintain new employee “on-boarding” process.

  • Be a great partner with recruitment agencies (temporary and permanent placement).

Compensation, Benefits and Payroll/HRIS

  • Coordinate benefits plans; annual benefits open enrollment, and issue resolution.

  • Maintains HRIS, payroll systems, time and attendance systems, and ensures data integrity.

  • Manage compensation plans; prepare and implement annual salary plans, develop and align compensation plans to drive desired employee and business performance.

Environmental Health & Safety Management

  • Act as liaison with Workers Compensation insurer to handle all workers compensation claims.

  • Implement best proven safety practices to mitigate risk and effectively manage claims.

  • Partner with Operations leadership to run required safety programs and training.

  • Lead EHS Manager and serve as group’s Safety & Risk Management Officer.


  • 10+ years of experience in HR Generalist roles including past leadership/supervisory assignment(s).

  • Approximately 20% travel.

  • B.S. in Business, Human Resources or a related field. An advanced degree is desired.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required.

  • Experience in audit, acquisition or integration HR processes desired.

  • Extensive employee relations experience is required.

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, engineering or Lean manufacturing environment is desired.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
