Matcon, a division of IDEX MPT Inc, has been providing powder handling solutions for the processing of powders, granules and tablets using Intermediate Bulk Container technology for over 40 years. Matcon operates globally across a range of manufacturing industries, including food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, chemical and metal powders.

The QH&S Manager is required to support the business in ensuring all elements of Quality processes and Health and Safety compliance are met by the efficient and diligent management of our internal processes.

NEBOSH Qualified or equivalent with at least 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.

Key Duties:

Quality

  • Maintain/enhance current quality system and quality manual.

  • Manage Internal and External Audits as required and implement action plan and identify resource as required to close out Audit findings.

  • Vendor assessment and qualification.

  • Maintain ISO 9001 accreditation.

  • Maintain list of Matcon Quality Forms (MQFs), Work Instructions (MWIs)

  • Maintain Quality information on Matcon Intranet

  • Liaise with third party test house regarding testing of new IBCs and maintaining existing certification (annual audit)

  • Receive Inspection Reports from Shop Floor, distribute to Project Managers for approval and signature, compliance approval and signature

  • Produce Inspection Protocols to send to key suppliers. Receive completed Inspection reports, file and log reports and material certificates (as applicable)

  • Maintain list of Calibrated equipment. Liaise with third party calibration company annually to calibrate equipment.

Health & Safety

  • Set up systems to obtain and maintain ISO 18001.

  • Review and enhance current Safety Manual ensuring all legislative requirements are met by the Company.

  • Review MSDS and create COSHH Assessments for Test Plant materials.

  • Ensure Health and safety compliance across the business.

  • Conduct internal safety audits as necessary.

  • Review and improve safe systems of work.

  • Drive H&S Engagement and manage the company’s policies.

  • Work with and Support Commissioning and service Engineers as necessary to establish safe systems for site work.

  • Develop, arrange and conduct internal training as required to maintain safe practises.

  • Develop and implement a new starter Safety Induction programme.

  • Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for outside Contractors coming on to Matcon premises.

  • Maintain list of Dangerous Goods IBCs tested

General

  • Conduct an annual review of the Company’s main Quality and Health and Safety Policies ensuring continuity and improvement year on year.

  • Carry out and manage risk assessments on all Matcon processes as required to maintain obligations for Quality and Safety compliance.

  • Carry out research and advise Management on new legislation that influences Matcon’s compliance certification in relation to Quality and Health and Safety.

  • Support and manage audits related to Quality and Health and Safety as required to maintain the company’s Certifications.

  • Create and drive action plans for corrective actions following Audits.

Key Metrics:

  • TCIR and LWCIR Performance

  • Lost Time Accidents

  • Reportable Accidents

  • 3rd Party Audit Findings

  • Action Plan close out

Key Attributes:

  • An excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with at least 5 years relevant experience gained within a manufacturing environment.

  • Able to demonstrate successful implementation of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 systems.

  • Familiar with current legislation and best practice.

  • Self-motivated, can work on own initiative and as part of a team.

  • Enthusiastic, well organised and has an attention for detail.

  • Organised and able to work to tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements in a manufacturing environment would be useful.

  • Able to occasionally travel overseas.
