The Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Leader provides EH&S leadership to IDEX Corporation and its business units globally, including developing comprehensive EH&S policies and programs, developing and implementing solutions that will keep our employees safe, monitoring and ensuring compliance with global safety and environmental laws and regulations, developing and conducting training for employees worldwide, and driving a sustainable safety culture across the organization. The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people across the enterprise and possess an in-depth knowledge of EH&S regulations and management methods. The successful candidate will also be able to work independently and have a high level of interpersonal skills to work across all levels of the organization.


  • Develop and own the Company’s global compliance programs with respect to all environmental, health and safety regulations, including developing comprehensive safety and health policies, procedures, and programs, developing strategies to close identified gaps, and driving continuous improvement to create a strong culture of safety.

  • Act as an advocate and primary owner of the Company’s corporate safety program via regular written and in-person communications with all levels of the organization, including executives, business leadership, and local EH&S specialists within the business units.

  • Develop, coach, and work collaboratively with a network of EH&S specialists across the Company’s operations and business units.

  • Develop and monitor meaningful leading indicators of safety and health risk/performance, evaluate data trending, and utilize data for management reviews all with a view of continuous improvement and the enhancement of safety performance.

  • Identify, develop, and implement relevant training topics across the organization.

  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments and audits; develop new or, where necessary, make recommendations to amend safety policies and procedures and ensure timeline completion of corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.

  • Advise business units on incident investigations, root cause analysis, remediations, and closure of corrective actions as needed.

  • Identify and develop environmental sustainability programs and initiatives in collaboration with other members of the Legal & Compliance Department and business units.

  • Monitor the industry landscape to keep visibility on evolutions, trends, and best practices related to EH&S laws and regulations as well as environmental sustainability programs.


  • Demonstrated experience in managing global EH&S issues in a global organization, especially in a decentralized and matrixed environment.

  • Possess strong leadership skills and ability to communicate with clarity and passion to influence decisions through mutual respect and drive a best in class EH&S program.

  • Significant project management experience, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and to manage multi-task, multi-deadline, cross functional projects effectively, on time and on budget.

  • Proven ability to identify risk and balance risk mitigation with business goals.

  • Strong customer service client orientation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the poise and personality to effectively communicate and interact with executives and personnel at all levels of the organization.

  • Highly-motivated, energetic, self-directed individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills.Willingness to take ownership and win buy-in of others.

  • Ability to fit into a team-oriented environment that is both friendly and informal, yet demanding of excellence, fast-paced, and rapidly changing.

  • Keen to develop and to use initiative.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Minimum of 10 years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree a plus.Bachelor’s degree in health, safety and environmental compliance, engineering, or other related field a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of EH&S regulations and previous leadership experience in managing global EH&S programs in a manufacturing setting.

  • Experience with identifying and rolling out EH&S management tools.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Background in identifying and developing environmental sustainability programs and initiatives a plus.
