SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of OSHA and EPA programs and procedures that support a “safety first” culture. This includes all relevant record keeping, maintenance of required data (Inspection and Training records). This role interacts primarily with plant management to accomplish team safety objectives.

REPORTS TO (Title) : Human Resources Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as the face of the safety environmental programs, policies and procedures for the company.

  • Identifies hazardous conditions and takes corrective actions to solve those issues.

  • Assesses safety and health risks associated with equipment, materials, process, facilities and personnel.

  • Maintains accurate records and collects data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in EH&S practices and compliance.

  • Supports employee safety committees in both facilities in Wooster supporting foundry, machining, and assembly operations.

  • Acts as the safety ambassador that is available to hear safety concerns from any employee. Takes appropriate actions when needed.

  • Gather and maintains appropriate safety metrics that are reported to leadership.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • Coordinates regular internal compliance audits to identify level of compliance in areas such as machine guarding, handling of waste, hazardous materials, housekeeping and personal protective equipment usage.

  • Works with operations and continuous improvement teams to bring new processes to reality while addressing potential safety and environmental concerns any change might bring.

  • Is responsible for annual reporting for both OSHA and EPA related areas.

  • Acts as the point of contact for workers compensation injuries in coordination with the third party administrator.

  • Works to upgrade the job setups (current and future) to help lessen or eliminate ergonomic risks inherent in many such production related jobs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One year experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS Management is preferred although relevant past experiences and training will be taken into account.

  • Understanding of the OSHA General Industry requirements is required.

  • Understanding the processes to handle hazardous waste.

  • Being able to maintain records and monitors requirements of current or future air permits.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Computer proficient in MS Office. Experience with OHIO EPA online and OSHA on line reporting is beneficial.
